Group N refresh or full house race engine build, one of the most overlooked aspects in ensuring a reliable engine is the selection and replacement of the standard rebuild parts.
The internet is awash with aftermarket gasket kits, head bolts and timing kits etc marketed as "OEM specification" or "direct replacement" and over the past 12 years we have had first hand experience of most.
Be it poor fit gaskets with flakey coatings, head bolts that once degreed give 20lbs/ft less clamping load, timing kits with brittle guides or drive gears 10 Rockwell softer than OEM, choosing aftermarket parts can be a minefield.
One thing that is almost certain is that none have had anywhere near the development and testing of the factory components wihich is why when it comes to standard rebuild components we exclusively keep and use genuine Honda OEM parts.
